As the day goes by, the Corona virus cases in Nigeria continue to increase. Although there have been an intermittent record of cases, it still calls for the highest of precautions. After over a month of lockdown, the country decided to ease off movement on Monday, May 4th. The lockdown was introduced in major cities; Abuja, Lagos and Ogun. In addition to this, a night curfew is also imposed between the hours of 8pm and 6am. Meanwhile, safe distancing is still very much advised. And the compulsory use of face masks.
This step taken by the Government was made in hope of gradually getting things back to norm. As well as help rebuild the country’s economy. However, just after a day of the decision, a lot more cases have been recorded. While the people of Nigeria are happy to get back to their former way of life. Reports however shows 1206 new cases recorded just last week.

CORONA VIRUS DATA IN NIGERIA
The first case of the pandemic in Nigeria was recorded in Lagos, February 28. An Italian man, who had just arrived the country tested positive. As the total number of cases worldwide surpasses 3 million. Covid-19 cases in Nigeria as at May 5th records 2,802. With 417 patients already discharged. Its death toll increases to 93. However, the Director-General of NCDC in Nigeria, Chikwe Ihekweazu has made promises to have more tests be done frequently.
Total Cases In Nigeria
As earlier mentioned, Lagos leads the way for most number of cases. A break down of the cases shows,
The state with most number of cases records 1,107 confirmed cases. Recovered patients are 247. And the death toll stands at 30
A state with high population, though second to Lagos. Its confirmed cases is put at 347 rising daily. Unfortunately, recovered cases so far still low at 7. Six deaths have so far been recorded.
The Country’s capital once had the second highest number of cases. Slipped to second, it holds 278 confirmed cases and 40 recoveries. Only 3 deaths recorded.
Recording a relatively low number of cases as compared to the major cities in the country. 96 cases since its first and no recoveries or death recorded. Gombe is indirectly one of the luckiest states with corona virus cases in Nigeria.
